Dear Aspen,

After 17 days of enjoying your beauty, it is time for us to bid you adieu.

I will miss your tall tree’s, fun ski slopes & delicious truffles.

Although I can’t say I will miss your -8 degree weather {brrr}!

See you again in the spring.

X, Damsel

What is a day in life like for world renowned photographer Gray Malin!? This Damsel got to find out as her dear friend {and neighbor} invited us to hop aboard a helicopter to fly high above Aspen. At 14,000 feet, no doors and freakishly cold winds {it was 8 degree’s on land}, there was nothing that could stop the high feeling of watching Gray do his incredible work. I’m sure by now you have caught site of his amazing Prada Marfa‘s and Beach Aerial Series “Á la Pilage Á la Piscine” {uhmazing!} and I assure you that the snow slopes will not disappoint!

I’ll keep you posted on when his new collection is ready to view!

I’m not sure if you got the memo that I have been, and will be, taking my first ever blogging vacation over the holidays. A few of you have written in asking where I am {aww shucks!} so I thought I’d share a few sweet snaps to fill you in. We jetted out to Aspen just before Christmas {see above} and then bopped over to Texas to visit my side for some amazingly fun family follies {that of which the videos are un-appropriate for blogging and probably only funny to us}.

Somehow, in the 48 hours we were there, we managed to laugh like crazy in our PJ’s and heels, stay up until 4am each night singing along with my Aunt Jenda’s amazing piano skills and got crazy silly with my fun cousins and family with tons of dancing {insert: the Tootsee Roll circa 1994}, a bazooka version of R.E.S.P.E.C.T and my brother leading a mean conga line. Needless to say it was f.u.n.

Now we are back in Aspen to ring in 2013 in snowy style. Above are pictures from yesterday where I conquered my first ever double black diamond. Yes it was hard. Yes it was cold. Yes I am extremely sore. And Yes it was totally worth it!

I’ll be back in LA next week and truly appreciate your sweet notes of concern as to my absence. This Damsel needed a little time off to reboot and start 2013 with a fresh set of creative posts!

Until then . . . X

We jet-setted over to Aspen this morning {insert crazy excited screams here} for the holidays. Traveling from a warm climate to cold is already a bit tricky. I hate, repeat: hate carrying bulky coats on any plane so I avoid it at all costs. My heavy duty winter coat is stored in Aspen and even if it weren’t, I would rather pack it in my bag than carry it on.  So when we fly to Aspen I try to bundle up my head and toes and try to get to the house as quickly as possible. William & Polly were my best accessory during today’s travels, which you can see photo’s of via Instagram!

Several of you have requested to see some sweet snaps {thanks for that!} from our trip to Maui last weekend for our best friends wedding!

Without further ado . . .

Our trip to Maui was…well, spectacular! We surfed, we hiked, we sipped Piña Colada’s and we watched our two best friends tie the knot! It was a long loving weekend filled with hilarious laughter. We saw Luau dancers {“My boyfriend plays with fire, what does yours do?”}, Smashley took a dip in the hotel lobby fountain {great form} and we experienced what the locals call a “Tiki Bar”.

Congratulations Ashley & Doug ~ We Love You!
