This little piggy forgot to bring her good camera to Aspen so please bear with these pictures as they aren’t the best quality. I didn’t want you to miss out on my outfit today because I’m wearing not one, not two, but three new items that need to be discussed.

Item #1: This cozy new knit from Express that I snagged just before jetting off to Aspen. I’ve literally worn it 3 days in a row {don’t tell!} because it’s super soft and the faux leather panels on the sleeves really chic up the look.

Item #2: I do not have enough great things to say about the 50/50 boots from Stuart Weitzman! Finding over-the-knee boots that don’t give a cankle look can be challenging. I’ve been wearing these 50/50′s since NYFW and love how they suck in my legs and are easy to toss on and go for flights & everyday trotting.

Item #3: Perhaps I saved the best for last. If you follow me on Instagram you’ve probably been itching to see what’s inside that beautiful orange bag I scooped up in Denver a few days ago. Meet Evelyne. She’s practical, she’s durable and she’s utterly fabulous {oh and she’s mine!}. The husband treated me to an early birthday present and while I have had my eye on a Kelly for quite some time, there is something truly understated about the Evelyne. As my first Hermés bag, I think this versatile choice will end up providing me with a lifetime of ease and happiness!

Yesterday I jumped over to the west coat for NYFW. My outfit pretty much mirrored the above as I snuggled up on the plane somewhere between LA & NY.

True Story: I packed for my 18 day honeymoon in a Tumi just like the one above. It is possible! I recently heard from Megan, who is jet setting to Rome then Capri in a few weeks where temperatures are expected to hit in the low 50s {brrr!}. While packing for chilly weather can be tough, it’s all about layers! In effort to squeeze everything in her carry on, I suggest you carry on your coat and try to pack as many mix and match options as possible!

Aside from wearing the above to jet set across the pond, here are a few other packing tips to travel by:

A good friend recently wrote in as she’ll be traveling to Isle Mujeres in Mexico for 3 nights with the girls and wants to know what to pack on a budget! I thought I’d share a few tips and travel staples that every wardrobe must have!

Tip for the traveling Damsels on a Dime:

- Keep your style simple. No need to run out and buy all the latest trends. Great style can be accomplished with the simplest black dress and heels.

- Switch up last year’s swim suit by purchasing a new bottom, or top {not both}. Most bikinis are sold in separates.

- Invest in a Chambray Shirt. It can be worn with anything and everything. Toss is over your bikini with shorts, wear it over a dress to change the look or wear it at night as a light jacket.

- Stick to one shoe color! This will save space and help narrow down your outfit options. Plus when you arrive at your destination, everything can mix and match well.

15 Travel Staples:

1. Multicolored Tote {$30} // 2. Blue Cutoff Shorts {$50} // 3. Dotted Bikini Top {$48} // 4. Red Tank {$32} // 5. Blooms Bikini Top {$27} // 6.  Sierra Crossbody Bag {$100} // 7.  Dotted Bikini Bottom {$44} // 8. Black Leather Flip Flops {$25} // 9. Striped Downtown Skirt {$58} // 10. Endless Summer Striped Dress {$32}  // 11. Black Bikini Bottoms {$16} // 12. TopShop Black Dress {$32} // 13. Steve Madden Real Love Heels {$100} // 14.  J. It’s all fun & games checking fashion & lifestyle blogs. It’s an escape, a glimpse inside a world that appreciates and celebrates all things that are beautiful. That’s the thing about the fashion industry, and style in general, that inspired me to create this job for myself. I appreciate looking at and celebrating beautiful things on a daily basis.

Today I want to take a moment to look at and celebrate the most inspiring people I have ever met in my life. The family that founded the New Hope Initiative. This family celebrates the most beautiful people in the world. People who literally have nothing, but still wake up with hope in their eyes and a smile on their face. People who walk miles for water, spend all day searching for a match to create light in their homes, yet will welcome you into their home to drink from their cup and share in their warmth.

I understand the feeling when a commercial comes on TV when you’re just looking to relax. I get it when you don’t want to watch that video that a friend of a friend passed along on Facebook that’s intention is to get you to “donate” or feeling guilty for not doing more. That’s not what this is, and that is definitely not what the New Hope Initiative is about. If I’ve learned anything from my experience visiting the project in Nairobi, it’s that you can’t be scared of the dark because the people who are living there aren’t. They see hope. They just ask that you see it too.

I have traveled to Nairobi, Kenya on two separate occasions with the New Hope Initiative {and hope to make a trip again soon} and while it isn’t documented fully on my blog, you can find more information on the website: New Hope Initiative.
