Dear Damsel

Basically I vote for caviar leather if you’re purchasing something you want for every day use. The lambskin leather tends to scratch easier and needs a little more TLC.
What’s your vote? Lambskin vs. Caviar?

Agree the cavier for its durability. The lambskin is buttery soft but so easy to scratch and doesn’t hold its shape as well. I didn’t realise there was a price difference.

totally agree caviar leather is much more for everyday use. love this post, glad i’m not the only one who can tell the difference!

So funny – I was just having this debate with someone else this weekend as I prepare to go to Paris and do a little Shopping at Chanel myself! I am all about the Caviar leather

I invested in my very first Chanel and went with the Caviar. I agree, I love how you can use it as an every day piece.

Totally off topic, but looking for more opinions. The Phillip Lim Pashli (the medium size is finally available for pre-order) but, I’m wondering.. is it a “fad” bag or something I’ll still love in a few years? Thoughts?

I absolutely prefer caviar, it’s more beautiful, elegant and, as you say, more durable. But I must say that I don’t use leather bags. If I did, I would go for the caviar version.

I guess I’m the only one that prefers lambskin! I bought a 2.55 chanel bag last year in lambskin. The difference in hand is night and day. The lambskin is so soft over the ‘bumpy’ caviar leather. I was concerned about the durability but so far I haven’t had a problem. The salesman informed me that they now put a protective coating in production so it’s not as delicate.

I have both a caviar and lambskin, and though I love the buttery softness of the lambskin, I never use the bag because it is so delicate! My caviar is definitely for everyday use – have had it as my daily bag for 3+ years now and it’s a little battered but still looks great!

the caviar and lambskin cost the same now. I have the caviar and it’s worn really nicely. caviar is nice for everyday but the lambskin seems nice for the smaller sizes at night.

As much as I love lambskin (it is so. flippin. soft.), I agree. Caviar is just much better for everyday use.
